Increase your water intake
THERE’S no doubt that this summer will be a scorcher as temperatures are already at sweltering highs, though technically it’s just spring.
One way to remain healthy is to keep hydrated as water will leave the body through sweating.
According to nutritionist Donovan Grant, refuelling properly with water will help to keep the blood constant, maintain the iron balance, help ward off infections such as those of the urinary tract, and maintain healthy skin, hair and nails.
It is recommended that eight glasses of water be consumed daily and Grant suggests getting the daily intake through fruit juices, plain water, and even coconut water, which has electrolytes to help with iron balance.
Overall dehydration should not be taken lightly as when it occurs the body cannot carry out its normal functions and the end result can be serious, ranging from heath injury, swelling of the brain, seizures, low blood volume, kidney failure, coma, and even death.
