A 25-lb weight loss goal
Dear Donovan,
I am interested in going on a 30-day detox plan. I am 20 years old and weigh 145 pounds. I am five feet, five and a half inches tall. I eat a lot of junk food at all times of the day, but I really want to lose 25 pounds by the end of August.
You have to be mentally ready for your weight loss challenge. In order for you to lose this weight, you will have to make some lifestyle changes. If you are not mentally and otherwise ready there is a great possibility that even if you start your weight loss programme you could fall off the wagon after some time.
You mentioned that you like to eat junk food, which can interfere with the weight loss process. Therefore, the desire and reasons to lose that amount of weight must be greater than the desire to eat junk food.
I would suggest that you cut out all junk food and try to incorporate more fruits, vegetables and vegetable juices like green juice in your diet.
In looking at your weight loss goals, you will need to lose a little over five pounds per week to make your target by August. This is not impossible, but will take some effort and dedication.
Weight loss can be achieved by reducing your calorie intake and/or increasing your calorie burning activities. Since your weekly weight loss target is roughly about five pounds per week, you will have to put in some serious work. Even to lose one pound, you will have to reduce your calories by 500 calories per day.
If possible, I would suggest you work with a nutritionist/weight loss specialist to achieve your goal. You can start your diet programme as well as a nine-night detox programme. Your programme will need modification and supervision over time. After one week your programme will need further adjustment for you to continue to lose weight. Usually if there is no adjustment made, you will hit a weight loss plateau.
In addition, I would suggest that you incorporate some exercise into your programme as well. You can start with half-hour to 45 minutes daily. This will help to burn calories.
Like your diet programme, your exercise programme will also need to be adjusted over time to ensure maximum weight loss.
Good luck!
