Landmark publication tackles partner abuse
WITH her recently launched book, From I Do to I Don’t: Overcoming the Wounds of a Bad Relationship, Tricia-Anne Morris chooses to unveil the horrors she contended with while in an abusive relationship.
“The book was written to help others evaluate the quality of their relationships, work through their healing, and track their progress,” Morris said.
“Throughout the book I use red flags to highlight those abusive behaviours people often tend to think are normal but really are not.
I also highlight the mistakes I made in the relationship and make suggestions on how I could have handled them differently. For me, getting back to the place where we really know how to show love, respect and celebrate others, as God intended, is really important.” Readers have hailed the book as a courageous and relevant piece of work.
Pastor Jasmine Miller of Whole Life Ministries endorses the book wholeheartedly. “It provides an honest and transparent insight into the dynamics of an abusive relationship and gives wise advice as issues arise,” she said. She said the book will be a valuable tool for every woman, both single and married, and is a must for those suffering abuse.
“Through her writing, Morris has provided a platform and a voice for those women who continue to suffer silently in abusive relationships, too scared to make the move,” said Lois Grant, managing director of Corporate Image Productions. Meanwhile, Dr Michele Meredith, consultant with the Ministry of Education, thanked Morris for her courage.
“The book is lovely! The story is written in an honest, disarming and warm way as though she’s talking to a friend.” The thought-provoking and easyto- read manner in which the book is written comes as no surprise. Morris is an eloquent public speaker and writer. She was general manager for one of the top marketing research firms in the region, Hope Caribbean Co Ltd.
She is a life and business coach, lecturer in marketing, motivational speaker, and online writer. She is also pursuing a PhD in management studies.
“We’re proud that this landmark publication is a product of the Caribbean,” remarked Ripton P Morris, president of Anointed Words and Music Inc, the organisation responsible for producing the book.
“We commend Tricia-Anne on the book and encourage women, men, and couples interested in improving the quality of their relationships to purchase a copy.” From I Do to I Don’t is available worldwide in e-book and print format via Amazon.
