Prom Night By Kurt Campbell

For many, graduation is a time of much excitement, but for others it’s when anxiety and a feeling of self-doubt kick in. AW Fashion is here to make things a lot easier with six showstopping designs from season four Mission Catwalk winner, Kurt Campbell.

All Woman Fashion (AWF): What was the inspiration behind this collection?

Kurt Campbell (KC): Recently, I became aware of situations where the not-so-confident young girls felt pressured come graduation time. This was my inspiration, and I began thinking of ways to enhance the confidence and look of young women attending their graduation balls. My designs are the perfect companion dresses designed to make graduates feel beautiful both inside and out. My six designs were created in three days.

AWF: What has Kurt Campbell been up to since winning the Mission Catwalkcompetition?

KC: After winning theMission Catwalk reality design competition in 2014, I was able to showcase my collection entitledShades of Contradiction at Milan Fashion Week in February 2015. I returned to Jamaica and won the Saint International Avant Garde Designer of the Year Competition in March 2015. I also showed a collection at Saint International’s Mecca of Style fashion show at the National Gallery of Jamaica during StyleWeek in May 2015. Later that year, in August, I was invited to show my collection at Cairo Fashion Week and in late September, I presented my Spring 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week.

Over the past year I have not only showcased collections, but I have styled and created designs for Miss Jamaica World 2015 Dr Sanneta Myrie, minister Marion Hall (formerly Lady Saw), and have developed a clientele spanning not only the entire island, but also the Caribbean, North America and Europe.

The Prom Project is another initiative that allows me to express my creative ideas and also to use my talent and skills to address an underserved section of the population. I hope that young ladies will make use of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear a classic design to a memorable occasion.
