Exercises for lazy people
ALTHOUGH it is becoming more and more popular to adopt healthy lifestyles and engage in regular exercise, some people find all sorts of excuses to avoid physical exertion: “I don’t have time”, “I can’t afford to join the gym”, “I don’t have the energy for that”, or “Those moves are hard to do”. But the real reason is that they are just plain lazy, and would rather sit idly by or lie around watching TV in their free time.
Are you one of those people? Do you long for the impressive results – the taut belly and tight butt, but can’t even bother to get off the couch to exercise with a few YouTube videos?
Well, lazy people, there is hope after all. All Woman spoke with fitness expert Rohan Gordon, who recommended the following exercises for those of you who prefer to lounge around. With these moves you no longer have to make excuses or feel bad about not exercising.
1. Stretching: While watching TV, keep stretching your arms in and out.
2. Leg raises on a chair: When you are seated, raise your legs one at a time for 10 to 15 repetitions.
3. When you are talking on the phone, walk around. The conversation will keep you distracted from the chore of walking.
4. Sit on an exercise ball instead of a chair and roll around.
5. Moms, limit the use of the stroller. Walk around with the baby in your arms instead of always pushing him/her around in the stroller. Babies are good for weightlifting.
Gordon also suggested that lazy people focus on changing certain habits, since they do not want to work out. This way exercise will be seen as regular activities and not a workout session. Below are some changes that he recommends:
1. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. This habit will work your leg muscles.
2. Pick the furthest parking spot, and walk the rest of the way to the building.
3. Walk short distances instead of driving.
4. Do chores yourself instead of hiring people to do them –—clean the house, wash your car, and do the gardening yourself.
