Keeping insecurities in check

By Miss Kes

Insecurity is a parasite to intimate relationships, and if not eliminated from the get-go, it is a sure way to sink a partnership. Many women struggle with this and it is evident in how they operate in their respective relationships.

One main trigger is fear – a lot of women are fearful of giving their hearts with no strings attached for fear of being hurt and rejected. This is quite normal, but what is not normal is searching for something that doesn’t exist, or creating things within your mind to attack your partner.

How can insecurities be dealt with?

Do not look for trouble where and when it doesn’t exist

Stop searching your man’s things and let him live and be free. If a situation is not before you, leave it alone and live your life. You cannot control another person anyway, so the best thing to do is be the best woman you can be, and if that is not enough, set him free and move on.

Get busy

Invest in yourself and your future. Find some things to do, like further your education, spend time with your family and friends, or find a hobby. Playing detective will drive you crazy.

Talk up

Set your standards from the inception of the relationship. This means you tell the man that you are not playing games and that you desire a serious, loving and committed relationship where you should not be concerned about him being unfaithful. Don’t expect a man to know what you want – tell him.

Give your man what you also desire

You cannot want love and faithfulness if you are not giving those to your man. Sure, there are situations where women have been loyal and loving and still got betrayed, but give what you desire to receive and if it is not reciprocated, make a decision to stay and work it out or leave and move on.

Release past emotional baggage

A lot of the insecurities women are dealing with today are simply due to some past love that went sour. It is not acceptable to carry a chip on your shoulder forever, so release the baggage and stop comparing your current lover to our ex. All men are not the same, so give your current man the opportunity to prove himself.
