Saying goodbye to a one-time love
SAYING goodbye to a love that was once a fairytale is not only a challenging, it can be a tearjerker. There are no easy ways to do this, but the reality is that when it’s time to part, there’s no real way of denying the inevitable.
How exactly can you say goodbye?
1. Assess why you want to leave
If you have reached a place in the relationship where you are not fulfilled and you are miserable, it is probably time to walk away. No one deserves to feel trapped in misery – absolutely no one! It could be that your partner is controlling and abusive, whatever the reason, decide exactly why you want to leave and it will be on that basis that you’ll sever ties. Find some time alone, sit down, and if necessary, write it down.
2. Have the talk
Understand that your partner will possibly get upset and even throw a fit, but you must have the talk and do so with respect. You do not have to argue and you don’t have to scream – simply say what you must, and if you want to, state why you have made such a decision. Whatever means necessary, you must have the talk.
3. Launch a new you
Leaving a situation you once had faith in can take a toll on how you view finding a new love. It can dim your perception of love so it is always best to do a self-check. Cry if you must, vent if you can. Just let it out and do not be quick to date. Spend some time to revalue you by dating you. It might sound crazy, but this will stamp a new brand on you.
4. Set your standards.
With your new outlook on love and intimate relationships, you have to ensure that you put in place a new law on how you will think of intimate relationships going forward, and also set in place guidelines on what you will tolerate.
