11 everyday habits that could be killing your libido
HAVING a low libido can be disappointing and frustrating for both the sufferer and their partner, and almost immediately, many of us are ready to blame it on illness. But the truth is, sometimes it is our bad habits that contribute to this lull, and Counsellor Violet Brown provides professional insight into the ones that may be to blame.
1. Being a cold fish
Doing the same old intimacy routine can get boring. When you know that you are going home to perform a monotonous procedure, it will dampen your mood.
2. You don’t exercise
Exercise gets your blood pumping and gives you that extra energy and mood to get frisky. Additionally, exercise gives you flexibility, which can be a good asset in the bedroom.
3. Bringing your office work home
When you and your significant other get home from work, it should be time to wind down and spend time with each other. There are some jobs where you might have to take work home; however, this shouldn’t happen every night.
4. You don’t sleep well, or you don’t sleep enough
We live in a fast-paced working world that is packed with hectic schedules and long days. Sometimes this prevents you from getting a good night’s rest. Consequently, you become too exhausted to get jiggy with your partner.
5. Staying up late to finish tasks
This drains your energy. When you do chores right up to bedtime there is no desire to do anything but sleep.
6. Being an Internet busybody
Just as how the Internet is a big distraction at work and school, it can be a distraction at home. People who spend a lot of time on their smart devices often lose track of time. By the time they are finished it’s just time to go to bed.
7. You don’t eat dinner on time
Foods that have a lot of carbs and fat can make you lethargic. Try to eat dinner a few hours before going to bed.
8. You’re a heavy drinker
Alcohol limits your body’s responses and can make it harder for you to reach your peak even if you can muster up the energy to start a romantic session.
9. Overeating
This leads to weight gain which can leave you tired and uninterested in sex.
10. You spend too much time with your partner
There is no need to spend every day with your partner. You and your other half should spend some time apart. That way, you can make your time together more meaningful. Sometimes you should long to see your partner.
11. You don’t balance time spent with children and your partner
Sometimes when children come along, couples do not spend enough private time with each other. Don’t let kids spoil the romance. Keep up with date nights even once a week, and when possible, go away for the weekend.
