Do you discuss sexual health issues with your partner?
Knowledge about each other’s sexual health is a crucial part of developing a relationship, even though it’s an aspect of the relationship that many people shy away from discussing.
How often do you ask your partner questions surrounding their sexual health? Would you be embarrassed to discuss such issues with your mate?
GD:
When I first met my husband I asked him about diseases and of course he told me he was perfect in that area. I didn’t stop there as we both went and got checked to ensure we were good before we started being intimate. Ladies, don’t stop there either. Even in your marriage you both should go twice a year because you never know, and please do not swear for any man.
Mesha:
Come to think of it, I never asked my man about his track record before we started having sex. I assumed, based on his profile, that I would be safe, and I am. But the right thing to do before you get in the bed is to get to the clinic and get checked. It could save your life.
JC:
I never stopped to think before I acted and ended up with herpes. Ladies, don’t just ask your man, but both of you should go and get a full medical. Do not just assume that because you are with a man in a suit he is clean, and do not mistake looks for a clean STI history. Do your checks together and do it all the time even when you are married with a family.
HJ:
I think women are afraid to ask men about STDs but I know it is important to know for our own good so I braved it and I asked my current man and we went in and got ourselves checked. It felt better knowing that we were both safe.
TA:
It is important to talk about it so yes, I do with my man all the time and we go to the doctor together.
