Marriage and family therapist Wayne Powell says even if the art of seduction is not mastered, on Valentine’s Day you should at least show an interest and a willingness to learn.
“This is a learned skill, and so both partners should know what works for the other, what buttons to press, what love language to use, what songs to play, what image creates visual stimulation, and so on. The key is to maintain the seduction strategies you used in the courtship stage of the relationship, revitalise and improve on them, and keep the love flames burning,” he said.
In the midst of all the sexy stuff, it is important to ensure that what you do is sustainable and true love is nurtured.
Some gifts that are easy to maintain, according to Powell, include calling your mate at work/home just to say “I love you”; offering to cook, wash or do a household chore that is usually done by the other partner; composing a piece of poetry dedicated to your spouse; showing regular affection by hugging and kissing your spouse regularly; continuing dating, and even hiding a card/gift in her/his bag/brief case to surprise them.
Other ideas of gifts to take it up a notch this Valentine’s Day and get you closer to mastering the art of seduction include:
Sexy underwear
This Wednesday is not the day to wear the cotton undies that can almost serve as a bedspread. An interest and willingness to learn how to be sexy begins here.

According to Powell, those looking to really tip the scales on Valentine’s Day may try edible body paint, underwear and body icing to spice things up.
Massage oils
The power of touch is important, and massage oils can heighten this experience.
Sex toys
Couples can have fun, depending on their liking, with cuffs, eye masks or other sex toys to maximise their sexual experience.
The birthday suit
This is an option that works just fine and is achievable through confidence. An accent piece in this attire could be a nice lipstick for women, and for men… a nice shave or bow tie.
Sexual favours board games
According to Powell, these will definitely replace boredom with excitement.
Customised jewellery
This can take the form of love bracelets or custom-made pendants, which your partner will have to hold on to and remember when years go by.

It may seem corny to get your partner a T-shirt that praises his size and endurance, or her sex appeal and satisfaction level, but it is a nice way for couples to enjoy each other.
