Would you date someone who was already married?
Many married men have had to fend off women who had shown little interest in them while they were single, a phenomenon that continues to baffle some. One explanation is that with the ring, the women get validation that the men are stable and reliable, and so are prime for the picking.
It doesn’t help that being the woman on the side is also losing much of the stigma it had attracted in years past, and some ‘side chicks’ are even celebrated in popular media.
So would you date someone who was still married? We asked women, and this is what they said.
Bridgette:
Absolutely not. I am aware of my value and worth so I wouldn’t cheat myself like that. I’d rather stay single. No matter how sexy and handsome he is, it’s a no for me.
JL:
I have dated a married man and I never once felt like I was second place because he ensured that I felt valued. I am not encouraging women to do it, but at that phase in my life I was going through a lot and he was there for me until I decided to cut the crap when I met my now partner.
ST:
I am with a married man and I was fully aware of his wife but I still did it because he was taking care of my bills. He was totally available when I needed him so I never felt like his wife was more important than I was, because he slept at my house most days of the week and she didn’t even call or message him. All I know is that I am in an apartment and I drive a nice car and he helps with my daughter so I am good over here.
Jenaye:
I couldn’t openly know that a man is married and jump into bed with him. Karma is very active and I wouldn’t want that curse on my life, so no. Ladies, stop selling yourself short. God has your husband waiting; leave other women’s husbands alone.
DP:
No, I couldn’t do it. I prefer single men. Once you’re married, it is a no for me. My parents have been married for over 20 years and I never grew up seeing certain things so I could never involve myself in things like dating a married man knowing he is a married man.
