Crossing the platonic friendship line
Some people say men and women can’t just be platonic mates, and either one of them will want to take things further at some point. Have you ever been caught in such a situation? What do you do when the lines between friendship and relationship cross?
PC:
Sad as it is to say, I have had sex with my best friend and because of that we are no longer friends. My man and I were going through some deep waters and I was depressed and my best friend was there for me. I don’t know how we ended up in bed, but after it happened, he was telling me that I needed to leave my man and be with him instead, and that was where we had to part.
MM:
Yes I have, and it was real good. I am single and yes he has his woman, but he was there for me when I needed release. It was just that and nothing more. I do not want to mess up his relationship and I don’t. I even go out with them from time to time and his girlfriend calls me and chats at times. I like them as a couple but I am woman and need help at times.
JK:
Yes I have and yes, it changes the entire friendship. It was a one-off thing but it turned him into a jealous friend.
DH:
I think once you have a close male friend, it’s bound to happen because everytime my man and I kick off, I turn to my friend and things happen when he tries to comfort me.
J:
It happened accidentally last year. I was drunk and was going through a lot and it just happened. I don’t regret it and it hasn’t changed our friendship. He is engaged and I recently got married. Things can happen by mistake, it is just how you handle the aftermath.
