It is OK to befriend your man’s ex?
Some women are strong advocates of knowing their man’s past to determine where they fit, and some will go the extra mile to get that information, even befriending their man’s ex. We asked several ladies if they would dig that deep, and this is what they said.
Cathy:
Yes, because I have done it and it opened my eyes about my husband. I met this lady at a conference I was actively participating in and she started to open up to me and shared some things about this man she was seeing. She told me they were dating for years and he went and got married and afterwards told her he regretted it. She said they continued to have a sexual relationship and he told her she didn’t have to work. When she showed me his photo, I almost collapsed because her sexual pal was my husband. My husband would push me to go to work everyday but here this woman was telling me he didn’t allow her to. I wanted all the information so I befriended her and one evening he came home from work and saw me and her hanging out and that was where the story ended. I am currently filing for a divorce.
AL:
No, it is not healthy at all. I think it is best to leave past events in the past and move forward. Sometimes in digging for information you get the shock of your life and it is best you are unaware of what you found out. I personally am not that type of person so I don’t dig around my man’s past.
Munchie:
When a woman digs around for information, it reveals her insecurities and also says she doesn’t trust herself. I think it is totally unacceptable and deceptive. Why would I go that low to find his ex and question her? I am not that insecure.
Rudy:
I did that once and regretted it because his ex shared some things they used to do sexually like threesomes and even sometimes foursomes, and it really messed me up mentally and caused major issues for our relationship. So I don’t think it is a wise idea.
TG:
Bad idea. I do not think women should go to that extent. If you have questions that badly about your man, ask him.
