Revenge: A dish best served cold
IF you have ever been cheated on then you would agree that revenge, if even for a fleeting moment, dominated your mind. And while some people are more forgiving, there are others who will not rest until the offending partner gets a taste of his/her own medicine.
Below All Woman readers share the various ways in which they were able to exact revenge on their cheating partners.
Anike, 29, customer service representative:
I was going to school at the time, yet I was helping him out financially from the money my father was sending me to make things easier. I was also taking care of his son everyday, even when I had exams to prepare for. Then I found out that he was with another woman, so one day I just carried the baby and put him on the girl’s verandah because I am not fighting over any man. I went back home and sent all my things to my sister’s place and bleached every single thing he owned — except for the little boy’s clothes.
Kevin, 36, businessman:
I took back everything that I had given to her, including all the nursing supplies worth hundreds of thousands of dollars that I’d bought for her classes. I left the house before the rent was due, since she thought it was okay to do me wrong after I gave her everything, just because I don’t have a degree. The man couldn’t help her so I don’t think to this day she has finished the nursing programme.
Vanessa, 34, social worker:
I was about 23 and had been with this guy for four years. Anyway, over and over he cheated on me, but I didn’t react so badly until he slept with a girl who he knows I had a beef with. I just bought some lingerie, then linked his best friend who had a crush on me. I recorded all of the “bawling out”, sent it to him, then cut him off.
Terry, 37, bartender:
My ex-boyfriend had a habit of wanting every woman he rested his eyes on, and if he was a good lover it wouldn’t be so bad, but I had to settle for a four to five-minute man, who had a tiny little thing. I settled with the embarrassment because he was good to me, until he brought a Jezebel into my bed. I gave him and the girl a proper beating, then sent pictures of his tiny manhood to everyone we knew.
George, 39, site manager:
I was with this girl for years; I had been doing construction since my teenage years and helped the girl through school. She had no responsibilities. I paid for everything, including her school fees. It is not like I couldn’t go to college, but we couldn’t both go at once and I had a better opportunity to earn enough money to take care of us. Anyway, when she finished I was ready to study architecture at UTech as planned and so while talking I asked if she thought she could hold down the fort until I finished, granted I would still work and I was going to get a student loan to make sure I didn’t eat away our savings. Her response was, “George, I don’t even start working a year and a half good yet, what kind of man are you? Also, I think you should know that I have been messing around and it’s only fair that I stop hurting you now”. I was going to forgive her, but a week later she told me she didn’t think the relationship was working out. I wasn’t bitter and no, I never cheated on her, I just focused on myself. After my schooling I started my business but still kept my other job because it paid well. As for her, she has changed a few jobs, which by the way were less lucrative with every move because of her attitude and she has not established a foundation for herself. My revenge, I would say, is my success, and doing it all debt free and meeting and falling in love with a partner who supports and loves me. Up to this day, my ex still tries to reach out.
