Vows — The Lintons: At Long Last!

Ink Evolution Ltd General Manager Alexander Linton and The Suites Surgery Center Manager Olivia Mowatt are still swept up in the throes of nuptial bliss, following the consecration of their union at the lavish Cherry Gardens residence of Alexander’s aunt on July 7, 2018.

Vows presents The Lintons…

How It All Began: He Said, She Said

Liv: Alex and I met in April 2015 at a family fun day hosted by our church. I baked cupcakes that my friend Elizabeth and I were selling in a booth.

Alex: I used the opportunity to buy cupcakes and invite her to a games night that I planned. She accepted! I went home unable to explain what was happening. I had met this girl, Olivia, and had fallen in love at first sight.

Liv: Elizabeth and I were late to the games night — I couldn’t help noticing that my ‘cupcake stranger’ was an extremely accommodating and kind host. Later that week he sent me a Facebook message.

Alex: Soon, our conversations grew more frequent. We spoke for hours about goals and our outlook on life and faith.

Liv: I was swamped with school, a new job, cupcake baking and tons of ministry. So, one day, I asked what his intentions towards me were.

Alex: …She declined, offering only her friendship. I was heartbroken but so in love I accepted her conditions. Our friendship developed and my feelings intensified.

Liv: After my tenth month of indecision he gave me an ultimatum. I could either make a decision to be together or keep it moving! Annoyed at the audacity of such a thing, I decided to keep it moving and got on a flight a few days later to visit my friend Cassandra in New Jersey.

Alex: Cassandra clearly spoke some sense into her and by July 2016 she finally agreed to be my girlfriend. We started to go on dates all the time. The love of my life had finally become a concrete part of my life…

Two years and 10 months after their first meeting, Alex, with help from their mutual friends, arranged a trip to Negril where he proposed…

Liv: I said, ‘Yes!’…..

Here comes the bride…

The décor, executed by Sharon Bair of Saint T Event Design and Consultancy Ltd, was a delicate combination of rustic elements with modern glam, and featured a mix of teal, amethyst, mauve and gold.

On the day, Alexander was joined by his father, Harel, at the top of the procession. The groomsmen — clad in Asos suits, patent leather shoes and JHux bow ties — and the bridesmaids — donning a mix of flowy mauve with thigh-high splits and gold sequinned backless dresses — followed.

Major’s Why I love You cued the opening of the large mahogany doors, revealing the bride. Olivia chose a classic long-sleeved, lace, high-neck, low-back Louise Graham gown. Her bouquet was an arrangement of roses in shades of lilac and amethyst, white hydrangeas and eucalyptus.

Paying homage to the three individuals responsible for her upbringing, Olivia’s journey to her groom-in-waiting took place over three parts. Her mother Erica Allen, aunt Joan Fletcher and adopted father Dwight Fletcher executed duties as her escorts. The marriage rites, officiated by Dr R Paul Earle of Life Church in California, featured a paint ceremony. The couple used colours from the wedding’s theme to paint on a blank canvas, symbolising their new life together.

With the marriage licence signed, Alex placed handcuffs on his bride’s wrist to herald the recession, declaring emphatically, “Finally! Can’t get weh now!”

Cocktail Hour

A cocktail hour by the pool deck — where guests enjoyed an electric blue drink called ‘Adios’ — provided the segue between the ceremony and…

The Reception

A beautifully draped clear-top tent with café lights strung across the roof, tables draped in ivory tablecloths and gold-sequinned runners, gold charger plates, gold vases overflowing with an assortment of lavender roses, hydrangeas, baby’s breath and Italian Ruscus provided the backdrop for the reception.

Strains of Gentleman’s Intoxication signalled the couple’s arrival. Master of ceremonies Alysia Moulton-White introduced the couple and the night’s entertainment.

A live-band performance of Sizzla’s Give Me A Try, Buju Banton’s Sleepless Nights and Tarrus Riley’s Stay With You, mirroring the couple’s journey, provided the backdrop for the sumptuous Angela Lindo-catered meal.

Then, following impromptu dances between the groom and his mother, and the bride and her father, Alexander and Olivia shared their first dance as husband and wife to Rishille Bellamy-Pelicie’s rendition of Adele’s Lovesong.

Formalities continued with toasts and the cutting of the two-tiered lychee wedding cake by Sweet Mischief Jamaica.

Following the bouquet toss, Alex and Liv joined their guests on the dance floor. They danced all night long.

Honeymoon

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Cancún, Mexico, snorkelling with dolphins and participating in water sports.
