Remember: Give children a jump-start before school starts
THE summer days are drawing to an end and most parents are making final preparations to send their children back to school.
However, in the midst of the preparations it is important to know that the learning process still continues, and giving children a jump-start before school resumes will work in their favour.
As a result, if you have secured books, encourage your children to begin reading them and practising from the workbooks which they may have.
In addition, remember that your children’s success lies not only with teachers, but parents play a major role. So while you have them for the remainder of the summer, ensure that they are engaged in educational activities.
On the contrary, you may not want to stress your child with school work; however, there are other ways they can keep mentally active in the last few days of their summer break.
Other activities include teaching them a skill, reading other forms of literature together, visiting historical sites as a family, or turning their school lessons into fun games they will enjoy while learning.
The benefits of continuous learning for your child are numerous and will help to keep their minds sharp, improve their memory, increase self-confidence, give a sense of accomplishment, build on the skills they already have, and provide a new interest they can share with others.
