No comparison necessary
In an era where technology is always showing us the best of other people’s relationships, it is easy for women to think that their love life is missing something because of what they see and what they hear. But just because something looks good in a photo doesn’t mean that it’s the fairytale you think. Here is how to stop comparing your relationship to your friends’ or everyone else’s.
Look within
Look at the things that are unique to your relationship and treasure them and celebrate what you have been given.
Avoid throwing shade
Avoid thinking negatively about your relationship, particularly about your partner. Avoid thoughts like, “he is not man enough” or “he is too laid back and if I was in his shoes, we would be rich already”. Just because your friends seem to be progressing with their relationships, doesn’t mean you are not progressing in your own timing with your relationship.
Get real with your friends
Invest time in going out with other couples and have meaningful and real conversations. This is one way to see that your assumptions about your friends and their relationships are misleading as every relationship has their ups and downs and some downs are probably even worse than yours.
Let love lead, not jealousy
Avoid making rules for your relationship because you are jealous of others. It is not acceptable to put your man in debt to match what another couple is doing. Act out love and watch your relationship grow; act out of jealousy and watch your relationship die.
Log off from social media
The thing about social media is that you only see the best picture and not the real deal. People take nice photos and write nice captions but should you be a fly on the walls of their bedroom, you would see a different story being read. Do not be quick to crave what you see.
