Complimenting gone wrong
As women, we like to be complimented and receiving a compliment from a man may be seen as harmless and admirable. Many of us don’t feel that way, however, when our partners compliment other women, especially in our presence. We asked several women to state how they viewed their partners giving compliments right under their noses.
Michelle:
Hell no! It is insulting. If my man ever tries that, trust me when I say a volcano will erupt in our relationship. Your compliments only belong to me and it doesn’t mean I am insecure, it is called respect. I don’t stand for those things.
Denise:
I see nothing wrong with it if it is not flirty or suggestive. I am totally confident so I don’t depend on my man to feed me compliments to know and appreciate my own beauty. I think if your man says something nice to another woman like her hair looks nice, don’t let that affect you, just let it go because that will come off as you being childish and insecure.
Janette:
I think it is disrespectful and it will make another woman feel like she is more important because your man complimented her when he should have been fixated on you. I would definitely have a problem with that and it would also tell me something about him too, because if he can do that in my presence, what is he doing behind my back? It is a big NO for me.
Gabrielle:
If my man does something like this, it is going to be a serious problem for him because that tells me he is flirty. I went through something similar with my ex where he was telling another woman how much he liked her outfit and I was right there. What made matters worse was that he never once complimented me even at my best. I don’t stand for those low-down things anymore.
Sherone:
My man did this indirectly a few months ago and it was a total disaster. We went on a beach trip and I noticed him staring at this particular woman and as soon as I went to the bathroom and came out, he was chatting her up, so I snuck up and heard him telling her that she looked nice and all that. I almost killed him – people had to come and get me off him. I was storming upset so from then we just haven’t been to the beach together again.
