The pros and cons of name tattoos

Tattoos have become quite the norm these days – they are popular and trendy. What is becoming increasingly common, too, is getting tattoos of spouses or partners. Is it wise though? We asked several women how they feel about tattooing the names of their men on their bodies.

Nerisha:

I have done it and I surely regret it. We split one month after I got the tattoo, and I am not in a position financially to get rid of it. I would never advise a woman to get a tattoo of her man because any card can play and you will have regrets.

Brittany:

My boyfriend wants me to get one but I am not about to do it. Personally, I think it brands you as ‘ghetto’ and I really don’t think it is attractive. It sends the wrong message about you as person so I am not about getting a tattoo, especially not of a man’s name.

LC:

I love my man and I got one. It is just for fun and nothing more. Furthermore, if we do part, I will just go get laser treatment to remove it. It is just for fun, nothing that is impossible to fix.

Tia:

I think women need to really think before they act. Look at the logic – I hardly see, if ever, a man tattooing the name of his woman on him, it is us women making a mockery of ourselves and doing stupid things. I am not a fan of tattoos, but I’d rather put something on me that is not a stamp that I am owned.

Kerrian:

I have done it and I am about to have it removed because my ex is now using it to cause problems in my relationship. He called my current man telling him that it’s his name on the woman he is having sex with and all sorts of things. I wish I never got it in the first place.
