Wives tell the secret to a successful marriage

By Miss Kes

Often women mistake the excitement of being engaged and the wedding day with the actual marriage. But marriage is quite different, as it is not only sharing living space, but it’s tolerating and accepting someone who is totally different than you on a daily basis.

How does one strike a balance? Several wives share their tips.

Sue:

I give my husband his time alone and his space. So when he gets in from work I don’t bombard him with my problems or anything of that sort. I greet him and allow him to settle in and I find it to be a very easy way to allow him to communicate with me. I don’t force him to, neither do I nag him. We do have arguments but I don’t nag him at all. I just say what I have to say and move on.

Natalie:

I think once two people understand their roles in a marriage, it makes it easier for them to live together in love. I understand my role so when I wake up in the morning I fix my husband his breakfast and his lunch and I ensure the house is clean and his dinner is prepared. I do my part and my husband takes care of our finances and even helps me out with house duties. Here is the thing – we have an amazing friendship and I think that what’s missing in relationships and marriages today.

Carmen:

I think what makes my marriage work is compatibility. We have an understanding of each other and we respect each other. The love is natural and real and we pass that down to our children. We disagree on issues but we never malice or call each other names.

Rhona:

I think respect and love can make a marriage work because if you respect each other you know how to communicate and if you love each other you will never do wrong. So I think that is the perfect formula and I have applied it to my own marriage and I am so happy, it’s unbelievable.

Marie:

My husband and I communicate well with each other and we communicate often. He is my best friend and lover all in one and I think if you can talk to your partner about almost everything, you’ve got a winner.
