Relationship issues to leave behind in 2018
WITH 2018 almost just a memory, everyone is gearing up to make New Year’s resolutions — hitting the gym, saving more, drinking less and going to church more often. The people below have some recommendations for their partners, though. They share some bad habits that they want their spouses to leave in 2018.
Brian, journalist:
I hate when she goes silent when she’s upset instead of telling me what is actually wrong. I like to deal with issues immediately. So I wish she would drop that for the New Year.
Jen, housewife:
The annoying habit my husband has is complaining. I wish he would stop complaining about physical pain that he claims he’s feeling and how sad he is.
Chris, student:
Not confiding in me enough, even when it’s obvious she’s going through stuff. She does not allow me to be aware or even possibly help her go through the rough patches she might be having.
Beverly, stay-at-home wife:
He delays in dealing with his feelings or things that bother him and tries to convince himself that he’s coping when he’s not. So he becomes a little obsessive and stubborn without realising it.
Shauna, business owner:
Firstly, he is ALWAYS right! He never takes the time to introspect, go over the conversation, see my point, and come to an amicable resolution or understanding. He is always right and whatever anyone else says just “nuh mek no sense”. The second thing is that every ex, flirt, and former sex partner remains a friend. It’s annoying as hell!
Stacey-Ann, shopkeeper:
His table manners need divine intervention for the New Year. When he is eating he makes the most horrible sounds. He slurps even cold things. And he is always scraping the bowl/plate clean like he hasn’t eaten in ages. Gosh man!
Xavier, bearer:
She falls asleep too easily. We both have work so I understand that she will get tired sometimes, but I can guarantee she doesn’t know the ending of one single movie. The shortest journey, she is asleep. And no matter how early or late it is, once she gets into bed it’s not long before it’s lights out.
Kim, nurse:
He always leaves decisions up to me. I want him to take charge and say, “Babes, let’s go to this place, or let’s try this.” I don’t like always being the one having to plan everything and deciding what we do together. Sometimes I want to feel like I’m being treated.
Rayna, cashier:
It might sound cliché, but we live together and he is always leaving the blinking toilet seat up for real. It annoys me so much. He also leaves things all over the house and expects them to magically be put where they are supposed to go.
Sean, taxi operator:
This girl never has money, ever! No matter what time of the day, week, or month, she’s broke. It’s not that I want any money from her, and I don’t mind spending on her, but sometimes she can chump up a little change too. She can’t just want to ride on the toll every morning and never have the two bills yet. I know women are mean, but she can cut back on it a little for 2019.
