Her Mr Right
WHEN international business consultant Erica Wynter met her “Pure Boss” — creative director of Pure Groop Ltd Damion Donaldson — the two entrepreneurs became one.
Facebook friends for almost eight years, they met in person five years ago at a Young Entrepreneurs Association of jamaica mingle.
“’Hi, thanks for coming, and bye,’ was all I said, while all he did was smile,” said Erica.
“It was an affectionate smile that captured my heart. Of course, he didn’t know he left such an impression on me.
“Three years later he slid into my DM (direct message) with a weird so-called request of a date, and I accepted. I knew he liked me all these years, and here we are heading to the altar next month,” said Wynter.
She said the more time they spent together, the more they craved each other.
“We are great as a couple and we work exceptionally well together as entrepreneurs, building our businesses The Pure Groop and C&E Innovational Services. As India Arie puts it, I am addicted to his chocolate high.
“We have a lot in common, but the trait that stands out the most to me is our unconventional way of thinking. Damion, more than I, does not believe in the status quo and always finds ways of challenging such (except basketball). He’s so unconventional that he didn’t do the proposal one would expect. Instead, one evening after a long day at work we decided to head over by The Deck for drinks. While having our drinks, he looked at me and said: ‘Let’s get married’. My reply: “That’s doable”, in a very calm and mature manner, but my insides were bubbling with excitement.
“The next day he called and said, ‘Start planning the wedding’, and that’s when I realised he was serious,” said Wynter.
According to Donaldson, Wynter is a dream come true — his queen.
“She’s my crazy ever after. To most she’s known to be a business mogul, however, she’s also very playful, crazy, down to earth, a big cry baby, and takes excellent care of her family,” he said.
And Wynter also finds Donaldson to be very playful.
“He’s known as the tickle monster at home. He’s very hard-working, determined to make his business a success, and not to mention very sexy. I call him my dark chocolate with a dash of brown sugar — my king,” she said.
