A short chat with Nyssa-Kaye Darby
NYSSA-KAYE Darby is the company secretary, Supreme Ventures Limited.
AW: What was your first job?
ND: My first job was at the Financial Services Commission (FSC) as a legal intern. My internship lasted for two years before I was appointed as a legal officer.
AW: What would you say is your best career achievement to date?
ND: My appointment as company secretary of Supreme Ventures Limited which is a publicly-traded company.
AW: When would you say you have worked the hardest?
ND: I definitely worked the hardest while attending law school. It was challenging to be in a full-time programme with classes every day starting in the early afternoon to the late evenings and on weekends while also interning at the FSC.
AW: What is your go to place for inspiration/motivation?
ND: I would say that I am most inspired and motivated whenever I visit some place new and exciting. I like to travel and so a change of surroundings not only helps me to clear my mind and refresh, but I get to share these new experiences with others on my travel blog www.nyscessities.com.
AW: What is your advice to young women who are looking to pursue a career in your field?
ND: My advice to young women is to be unwavering in pursuing their goals and aspirations and to deal with any setbacks as opportunities to learn, adjust and try again. It is also good to have a mentor that you trust and respect and who displays positive personal attributes while having the experience and skills which you can benefit from based on your areas of interest.
