The North Coast’s top car show — Crews Control — returns after two years to Shazz Ground in Richmond, St Ann, on Saturday, August 27.

“On a scale of one to 10, I would say eleven that we’re happy to have Crews Control return. Words aren’t enough to express the feeling, and to know the entire car community has been waiting patiently since our last staging in 2019 makes it even better,” Kedron Kennedy, event organiser, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.

The inaugural Crews Control was held in 2017 and grew with each staging, with August 2019 being its biggest and last before the break brought on by COVID-19.

“The COVID-19 shutdown came as a surprise to us all. We were forced to regroup and did as much as we could to keep our loyal fan base engaged. We even explored the idea of hosting a Crews Control show online. Thankfully we’re able to host our first event since the pandemic, so all the ideas we had for 2020 and 2021 will be implemented this year,” Kennedy explained.

The car show will see two well-known females in the Modified Performance car scene, Jodianne Murdock and Samantha Wilmot.

“The concept behind the Crews Control auto show is to give crews a platform to showcase and highlight themselves in a fun and entertaining way, from bikes to cars to trucks,” he said.

With the focus of Crews Control being car crews, the categories are the Largest Crew, Cost Punctual Crew, and Most Organized Crew. Single competitions are Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior, and Best of Show. Other categories include Lowest Car and a Low Car Limbo.

“We have lots of new and entertaining stuff lined up for this year. For the first time we will be having a driving simulator at Crews Control. The person with the fastest lap time will win prizes courtesy of our sponsors. We will be having new competition categories. New sponsors, new vendors, and lots more,” said Kennedy.
