KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fresh from his second-place finish in the Jamaica International Independence Foreign Song Competition (JIIFSC), D’Mack has released a song different in tone to that patriotic track.

Babylon A Mash Up mi Life is the title of that song. It is written and produced by the South Florida-based singer.

Recorded on The Heptones’ classic Party Time rhythm, Babylon A Mash Up mi Life hears D’Mack calling for unity in the midst of a corrupt system.

“It’s all about upliftment which is what D’Mack has always been for. Wi sing nuff lovers rock song but wi also believe in being positive,” he said.

There was also a positive feel to Jamaica Is The Place, his entry in the JIIFSC which was decided on July 25 in Snellville, Georgia. That competition was won by Lee “Priest” Johnson with One Of A Kind.

D’Mack, who is from Portland, made his name as a keyboardist on the Toronto, Canada reggae scene before moving to South Florida.

In Canada, he played in several bands and was mentored by legendary keyboardist Jackie Mittoo.

Since moving to The Sunshine State, D’Mack has recorded and released several songs.

Odyssey, his only album, was released in 2020.

It is produced by Karl Pitterson, engineer for Bob Marley’s Kaya album and producer of Steel Pulse’s classic True Democracy album.
