Andy Livingston covers classic

Reggae singer Andy Livingston recently recorded a cover version of I’m Born Again, originally done by the Afro-Caribbean-German vocal group Boney M in 1979.

“Boney M is one of those great international vocal groups that I grew up listening to in the late-70s. They had a very unique sound because they experimented with various genres including reggae, disco, and R&B. Given the fact that I’m Born Again has always been one of my favourite Boney M songs I decided to do a cover of it as a tribute to the group,” he said.

The latest version of I’m Born Again was co-produced by the artiste and Herbie Harris. It was released on October 16.

Since then the song has been receiving strong rotation on the airwaves, both locally and abroad.

“The reception to this single has been very positive. It’s getting a lot of support from deejays in various parts of the world. I believe it has the potential to do great things. My team and I are putting a lot of promotion behind it,” said Livingston.

I’m Born Again is one of the featured tracks on his EP titled Rebirth which is scheduled to be released on November 3.

The launch party for Rebirth is also scheduled for November 3 at Rebel T’s HQ in Kingston as a precursor to the popular weekly ‘Original Dancehall Thursdays’ event.
