Capleton fired up for ‘Footloose’
VETERAN dancehall artiste Capleton says he is fired up for the December 17 staging of retro party series ‘Campari Footloose — the showtime edition’, scheduled for the Mas Camp in St Andrew.
“Whenever people come to experience a Capleton performance the expectation is always energy and frenzy, fire, and the message in the music. You know we a come turn it up and bun it up,” Capleton told the Jamaica Observer.
“This is my first time performing at Footloose so I am definitely looking forward to the experience,” he continued.
Known for a string of hit songs beginning in the 1990s into the late 2000s, Capleton is a fan favourite with titles including Wings of the Morning, Tour, More Prophet, Almshouse (his first number one song in Jamaica), Tun Up, Hunt You, That Day Will Come, In Har Heart, Or Wah, and Bun Dung Dreadie.
He cites the authenticity of the music that has made music lovers continue to gravitate towards hits from the past.
“The authenticity of the music, the substance, longevity in the music, the love, the joy that the music brings forth. As an artiste I still give thanks for the talent that Jah bless me with to record songs that people really love listening to and enjoy. Even two and close to three decades after the songs were released, people still ‘fulljoy’ the music,” said Capleton.
Tyrone Dixon is promoter of Campari Footloose.
“It’s Christmas, and we could not close the year without something big. This is our showtime edition with the ‘Fireman’ himself, Capleton. Mas Camp will be on fire and, as always, the party energy will be up,” promised Dixon.
