Although Jamaican artiste Jean Francis is based in Budapest, Hungary, he has been creating musical waves around the world. His most recent releases, Give Me That, Falling, and This Must Be Christmas have yielded overwhelming support for him.

“All the songs have been stepping stones, so every song has a bigger audience, and even though the tracks are in [the] Jamaican language, I find it that my international audience loves it,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Francis wears many hats, one of which includes film-making. With a passion for music and visual storytelling, he embarked on his creative journey at a young age.

In his teens, Francis honed his skills as a sound engineer in various studios in Kingston, immersing himself in the vibrant music scene of the capital city.

According to Francis, he migrated to Europe to live with his wife. The couple have been living in Budapest since 2023.

The entertainer said that he has struck luck in orienting abroad.

“It has been easier than expected connecting to the European audience; getting the love and support from many and the obvious growing fan base; they love the music that I do,” he explained.

Added Francis: ” I connect to international fans through the music and they find my platforms on social media.”

Fortunately for him he has had somewhat of a linear music career since he decided to try his hand at the craft.

“My first official release called Your Hold — a song recorded and released in Europe — was a great success; opening many doors on the international market [and] getting deal offers from many international distributors,” he said.

“After the release of Your Hold was a duet with Y’urs and myself called Stay Natural that was also recorded and released in Europe. With more English language out of the regular Jamaican flow from myself, as well as German Native, Y’urs the song gained [much] airplay, capturing the ears of the European audience,” Francis added.

With other projects in the pipeline with Y’urs, Francis hopes to also collaborate with Akon and Cold Play.
