Ocho Rios Kite Festival is back!
Paula Moncrieffe-Jackson, organiser of the second annual Ocho Rios Kite Festival, says her team has gone back to the drawing board to enhance this year’s staging.
“We have made changes to improve the festival experience by making the venue larger, securing more entertainment acts [such as] the likes of Laa lee, Deep Jahi, Pablo YG, Apache Kid and Sarge, Grandpa Entertain, plus others,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
The festival will be held on Good Friday, April 7, at Content Gardens Sports Complex.
Moncrieffe-Jackson explained that meticulous planning has been put in to ensure that the family-friendly event is a success.
“The organisers have been preparing for the event several months; securing artistes, sponsorships and working to give our patrons the best experience with our second staging,” she said.
She further said the core mandate of the festival is to keep the kite-flying practice alive, while offering other attractions to patrons.
The main objective of the Ocho Rios Kite Festival is to celebrate the tradition of kite flying in Jamaica and to provide a fun and inclusive event for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Activities will feature kite-flying competitions, musical performances, food and craft vendors, and other activities.
“We also aim to promote tourism and community involvement in Ocho Rios and the wider environs,” Moncrieffe-Jackson said.
