Teriffic Tevin Foster at his best aboard Milos
JOCKEY Tevin Foster was at his optimal best when he drove the Gregg Fennell-trained Milos to victory in a Restricted Stakes contest for three-year-olds and upward over 5½ furlongs (1,100m) on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Foster broke Milos well at the start of the race, and kept the four-year-old bay horse slightly off the pace while Legit Boss (Raddesh Roman) and Money Market (Dane Dawkins) ran themselves into the ground on the front end.
Foster waited for the leaders to falter while running the inside rails as he navigated the half-mile (800m) turn. Foster and Milos were gifted with the rail run in the stretch when both Legit Boss and Money Market strayed wide coming off the curve. Milos then took advantage and snatched the lead inside the furlong and a half (300m) pole.
But Foster and Milos had no time to rest as Acknowledgeme (Ramon Nepare) gained speed and flew towards the finish line, looking all over the winner. Acknowledgeme had Milos covered with yards to go but Foster pulled the rabbit out of the hat and outrode Nepare to win by a half-length.
