ST ANN, Jamaica — An 82-year-old man died from injuries he received as a result of a motor vehicle collision on the Runaway Bay main road in the parish on Wednesday.
He is Leslie Wright, a retiree of Hopewell Gardens, Discovery Bay, St Ann.
Reports from the Runaway Bay police are that about 11:15 am, Wright was driving a Nissan Bluebird motorcar towards St Ann’s Bay, when the driver of a Nissan Sunny motor car that was travelling in the opposite direction collided with Wright’s motorcar.
He was taken to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
A man who said he witnessed the crash said he suspected that there would be fatalities based on the speed at which the Nissan Sunny was travelling.
There is often speeding on that section of road, he said, so when he initially heard the car coming, he thought little of it until he heard the “boom” of the collision.
“Accident did terrible man, just a hope him family and friends them can find some comfort right now,” he said.
