Adams breaks UCF record, retains title
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former Excelsior High athlete Adrienne Adams of the University of Central Florida (UCF) has started the outdoor season on a high as she has broken the school discus throw record three times.
On Friday’s opening day of the University of Central Florida Knight Invitational, Adams extended the record to 57.76 metres to retain the title she won last with a throw of 53.69 metres.
The Corporate Area Development meet champion had also thrown 56.19 metre, which broke the 56.07metres she had thrown a week earlier at season opener UCF Gold and Black classic.
Meanwhile, Marie Forbes who was second in the event, set a new Clemson University program record after she threw a personal best 56.93 metres.
Forbes, the former Vere Technical stand out, beat her previous best 52.01 metres set last year and moved from third to first on the Clemson list, beating the 56.70 metres set by Veronica Fraley in 2021.
It was the second school record set by Forbes this season after she broke the weight throw record in the indoor season.
