Arnett rebound to beat Treasure Beach in JPL
Arnett Gardens rebounded from their loss to Portmore United to beat Treasure Beach 2-0 in their Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League first-round game played at the Anthony Spaulding Complex on Thursday.
Despite the win, Arnett Gardens is in fourth place, on goal difference behind Tivoli Gardens with a game in hand, while Cavalier SC is in fifth place on 21 points with two games left in the first round.
It was the seventh straight loss for Treasure Beach, who is still in the relegation zone on seven points in 13th place.
Meanwhile, Cavalier SC won three straight games with a 3-0 beating of Molynes United in the first game of the double-header. Molynes, who ended Thursday’s game with 10 players, are in 12th place on eight points.
Fabian Reid, who returned to Arnett Gardens after a stint in India, scored in his first game, giving them the lead in the 56th minute before providing the assist for Rushike Kelson’s goal in the 62nd minute.
In the first game, Cavalier SC ended Molynes United FC’s two-game unbeaten run with a 3-0 win, as Molynes FC’s Jeremy Nelson was sent off in the second half after he was shown his second yellow card.
Jalmaro Calvin opened the scoring in the 35th minute before two late goals sealed the victory, Dwayne Allen scoring in the 83rd minute, and Shaniel Thomas a minute later.
