Capleton wishes ‘joy and happiness’ for sister Aleen Bailey who tied the knot

KINGSTON, Jamaica- Dancehall-reggae legend Capleton has sent well-wishes to his sister Olympian Aleen Bailey who exchanged vows with her partner, Joseph Leon Taylor on Saturday at St Andrew Scots Kirk United in downtown Kingston.

Capleton was unavoidably absent at his little sister’s wedding as he is presently on tour in Europe.

“I texted her, wishing her success and happiness and everything. Aleen understand and know seh is the job and work why I couldn’t make it. She know authentically say if I was in Jamaica, she would definitely get my support, she know say ah so the work go, but mi wish her all the joy and happiness this world can give,” Capleton, real name Clifton George Bailey III, said.

Capleton performed in Bratislava, Slovakia on Sunday night. The tour will end with a sold out performance at the world famous Elysée Montmartre in Paris, France on November 17.

Aleen showed off her own musical chops during the wedding. As she made her way to the aisle, the former sprinter serenaded her groom with a rendition of Shania Twain’s ‘From This Moment’.

Olympian Aleen Bailey serenades her husband as she walks down the aisle at their wedding on Saturday.

An accomplished athlete, she won a number of relay gold medals. Her best individual performance was finishing second in the 100m and third in the 200m finals at the World Athletics in 2004.

Her biggest moment on the world stage was also in that year when Jamaica won its first ever women’s 4×100 relay gold at the Olympics. Bailey was part of that historic moment, running the third leg of the quartet comprising Tayna Lawrence, Sherone Simpson and Veronica Campbell.

After competing at two Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, persistent injuries forced Bailey into retirement in 2017 at the age of 37.
