#Champs2023: St Jago's Dawkins upgrades silver to gold in triple jump

KINGSTON, Jamaica - St Jago High’s Jade-Ann Dawkins upgraded her silver medal in the Girls' triple jump Open to a gold on Friday after she jumped 13.02m (0.0m/s) in the final at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Dawkins, who had earlier won the Class 2 long jump title, was below her brilliant best in the triple jump but was still able to top the field, just ahead of Holmwood Technical’s Celine Riddle who jumped 12.96m (-0.1m/s).

Dawkins got off to a strong start, opening with 12.96m (-0.5m/s) before improving to 13.02m in the second round.

Riddle also had a good start with 12.23m (-0.4m/s) before finishing with 12.96m.

St Elizabeth Technical’s Richelle Stanley who qualified for the final in all three jumps, was third with 12.37m(-0.2m/s).
