Fanbrown Records takes aim at Latin market with ‘Raptura’
Since it emerged on the scene two years ago, New York-based Fanbrown Records has been making a name for itself in music circles.
Brothers Bertland and Oshane Brown are the driving forces behind the label. On December 23, the label makes a move into the lucrative Latin market with the release of the song ‘Raptura’ by Latin Grammy nominated Afro-Argentine reggae artiste Fidel Nadal.
On ‘Raptura’, the brothers combined a mixture of authentic dancehall drum patterns and modern sounds to create a percolating beat.
“We decided to venture into the Latin market because we wanted to expand the brand and reach a wider audience from that demographic. “We also want to establish ourselves as renown producers in that market as well,” Bertland disclosed.
He explained how the collaboration with Fidel Nadal came about.
“The collaboration with Fidel Nadal came through a relative of ours who is also a producer, Adrian ‘Donsome’ Hanson. We also did a little research on Fidel’s work and that helped in our decision to work with him.”
Said Bertland, “We hope to accomplish a presence in the Latin market while also working with other Latin artistes and stamp our mark in the Latin community. As producers, we have to think outside of the box to branch off into the international market.”
Fanbrown Records has worked with a number of artistes including Chronic Law, Turbulence, Chezidek, Junior Kelly among others.
The Brown brothers are originally from Portmore in St Catherine. Earlier this year, they made their debut with the song ‘You’re So Crazy’ by Turbulence.
