FLA to investigate Khago’s latest gun infraction; could revoke licence before outcome of court case
The Firearm Licensing Authority is conducting its own investigation into an incident involving popular deejay Khago who is alleged to have brandished his licenced firearm during a verbal dispute with a female at his home in Knockpatrick, Manchester last Friday.
Shane Dalling, chief executive officer of the FLA, confirmed that he is aware of the incident but directed the queries of OBSERVER ONLINE to the FLA’s Corporate and Client Relations director, Beverly Robinson.
“We will wrap up our investigations and submit a report to the board for a final decision on the future of his licence,” Robinson told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Robinson said that the Tun Up the Ting deejay could have his licence revoked depending on the outcome of the investigation.
“We already had a case open with a similar complaint before and now there is a new case which we are now investigating If we find that the complaint is credible, then we don’t have to wait for the outcome of the police criminal investigations or resulting court decision, we can revoke the gun licence of the individual involved,” Robinson said.
According to the police, Khago allegedly pointed the weapon at the relative and issued a threat during a heated verbal exchange between the two. A report was made to the Mandeville police.
Khago was charged with assault at common law. A court date has not yet been finalised for him to answer to the charges.
The FLA has always maintained that they have the authority to remove a firearm from an individual before an actual incident takes place “if the FLA believes that the person has the propensity based on the actions of the individual”.
