KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a two-year absence, the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo), has revived its major craft fair on the south lawns of Devon House, St Andrew. The fair dubbed “CRAFT-ING for Christmas – give a craft that counts” will feature over 60 local artisans with an array of art, craft, and souvenir items, which will be on display and for sale.

The fair will run from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm on Friday December 16, 2022, and will provide an opportunity for patrons to do their Christmas shopping while giving the artisans an outlet for sale of their wide range of Jamaican products, TPDCo said. The event will also feature authentic Jamaican entertainment during the lunch hour and later in the evening.

According to Executive Director, Wade Mars, “As guardians of the tourism product, TPDCo is involved in promoting the viability of authentic Jamaican craft products. The sector is an important part of the industry, and we want to give local artisans an opportunity to showcase locally made products and to establish their brands. We look forward to persons coming out in their numbers to support and enjoy this family event. We encourage them to also make use of a special rate that Devon House has collaborated with us to offer for a tour of the mansion and a serving of their world-famous Devon House ice cream.”

The fair, which is free of cost and open to the public, features an opening ceremony at 11:30 am and lunch hour concert with cultural performances from Kaya Jonkonnu Group, Rhumbakka Mento Band and Bekele Drummers.

The day will culminate with another concert starting at 5:00 pm which will see performances from Jamaica’s Festival Song winner 2022, Sacaj, Gospel Festival winner 2022, Danielle Mayne, Reggae Gospel icon Dr Lester Lewis, Singing Rose and international reggae artiste Agent Sasco. aMaster of Ceremony for the evening is Jennifer ‘Jenny Jenny’ Small.
