WATCH: Work underway to clear landslide in Violet Bank
Crews are on the Violent Bank main road clearing a landslide that is impacting vehicular traffic. The roadway leads to Mavis Bank in St Andrew.
The landslide was caused by heavy rainfall associated with the passage of a weather system across the island on Friday.
A number of government officials are now touring the area to assess the damage following the weather event.
Among those on the tour are Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie; St Andrew East Rural Member of Parliament Juliet Holness;
On tour are Robert Morgan Desmond McKenzie Pearnel Charles Jr Richard Thompson and Stephen Shaw deputy mayor Ennis n MP Holness; Minister with responsibility for Information, Robert Nesta Morgan; Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jr; and Acting Director General, Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Richard Thompson.
