World Champs: McPherson, Parchment named team captains
EUGENE, Oregon – Olympic champion Hansle Parchment and World Indoor bronze medallist Stephenie-Ann McPherson have been named the men’s and women’s team captains of the Jamaican team for the 18th World Athletics Championships that starts in Eugene, Oregon on Friday.
The announcement was made by the team media Liaison Officer, Dennis Gordon, after a meeting on Tuesday evening at the team camp.
Also at the meeting, the responsibilities of the coaches were confirmed.
Maurice Wilson was named technical leader while the veteran Glen Mills is on board as a consultant.
Bert Cameron will be responsible for the 400m runners and the mixed relay team; Lennox Graham, all hurdles and 4x100m women; Paul Francis, 4x400m women and mixed relays; Julian Robinson, throws; Renaldo Walcott, women sprints and women 4x100m relays; Marlon Gayle, jumps and 4×400 men; and Gregory Little, male sprints and men’s 4x100m relay.
