HISTORIC!
JAMAICA’S Reggae Girlz qualified for their second- consecutive Fifa Women’s World Cup on Monday night when they blew away neighbours Haiti 4-0 in their final Group A match of the Concacaf Women’s Championship at the Universitario Stadium in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon State, Mexico.
Trudi Carter opened the scoring in the 26th minute, while Captain Khadija Shaw hit a brace (59th and 70th). Drew Spence closed the show in the 79th. The victory also propelled Jamaica to the semi-finals of the ongoing qualifying tournament.
Jamaica had created history when they qualified for France 2019, the first Caribbean country to achieve the feat. The next Fifa Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
