KFC partners with OPM and Food For the Poor to bring Christmas joy

IN the spirit of generosity and community outreach Restaurants of Jamaica (KFC) contributed 1,200 meals to benefit more than 1,000 underprivileged youths across the island.

As a sponsor of the prime minister’s annual Christmas treat and Food For the Poor Jamaica’s annual Angels of Hope Christmas programme, KFC feted kids from 30 children’s homes, creating joyful moments when children alongside members of the KFC Jamaica team shared laughter, play, and festive celebrations.

“Along with the gifts and care packages the children really do look forward to the KFC meals because this makes the treat extra special for them. We not only gifted those present, we made sure to include those who physically could not have been there, just so each child felt acknowledged,” said Christina Gardner, director of administration and special services at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).

“Next year the prime minister wants to [not only] host the treat at Jamaica House but also bring the treat to some of the homes. This year was a success and we look forward to more companies coming on board to assist,” added Gardener.

With KFC’s donation of 400 meals and 400 gift packages the OPM successfully catered to eight children’s homes including Annie Dawson Home for Children, Glenhope Place of Safety, Jamaica National Children’s Home, Maxfield Park Communities, Mustard Seed Communities, Mustard Seed Communities (Jerusalem), Salvation Army (Nest Children’s Home), and Wortley’s Children’s Home.

Marketing and development manager at Food For the Poor, Marsha Burrell-Rose also reflected on the partnership with KFC which has supported the charity’s Christmas project over the past five years.

“Over the years, KFC has been an unwavering pillar of support and we’re ever so grateful for their consistent partnership. KFC’s commitment has been nothing short of amazing; they’ve stood by us and the children we serve. It’s evident that their team deeply comprehends the vision and mission of our charity, particularly this vital Christmas project. They understand the significance this annual event holds for the children and, without a doubt, we knew they would once again join us without hesitation,” said Burrell-Rose

The charity, in partnership with KFC, brought joy to more than 700 children living at 23 children’s homes islandwide, distributing 800 KFC meals during its Christmas treat held at Jose Marti Technical High School in Spanish Town.

Burrell-Rose underscored the children’s excitement for their much-anticipated KFC meals during the Christmas season, expressing the charity’s commitment to making a positive impact and hoping for increased corporate support in the years to come.

“For many years KFC has been steadfast in supporting community outreach initiatives, contributing in various ways throughout the year, however Christmas holds special significance for giving back, and we are committed to ensuring our efforts to make a positive impact remain unwavering during this time. We are grateful to both parties for allowing us to participate in these meaningful events and we eagerly anticipate extending our support for many more years to come,” said KFC Brand Manager Andrei Roper.
