Intrestntimesahead reigns supreme in Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes
INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD, in a performance which demonstrated class and talent, easily brushed aside rivals in the $4-million Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL)-sponsored Jamaica Two-Year-old Stakes feature race at Caymanas Park on Tuesday.
Trained by current champion conditioner Jason DaCosta and ridden by jockey Phillip Parchment, Intrestntimesahead took the contest with an electrifying run in deep stretch to win the Futurity race over one mile (1,600m) by three lengths.
In the early exchanges Parchment kept Intrestntimesahead off the pace and watched as stablemate Banadura (Robert Halledeen) led the field down the backstretch ahead of Matuso (Raddesh Roman), Comehometome (Reyan Lewis), and Run Julie Run (Omar Walker).
Intrestntimesahead came into view as he navigated the half-mile (800m) turn, slipping down into fourth place and gaining ground on the leaders with each stride. Intrestntimesahead, who hugged the inside rails and cut the turn heading into the lane, exploded like a cannon ball to win going away in the end.
Fastnfuriouslinks came in third, followed by Run Julie Run. Owned by Elizabeth DaCosta, Intrestntimesahead covered the distance in a time of 1:39.2 (24.0 x 46.3 x 1:13.1) to register his second-consecutive win from three starts, confirming himself as the top local juvenile for 2023.
Oneil Mullings was the pick among the riders with two winners on the 10-race programme. Mullings won aboard Lion Talk in the opening event for trainer Ryan Williams, and aboard City Hawk in the eighth race for trainer Ricardo Brown.
Racing continues on Saturday.
