National table tennis championship begins today

The Jamaica Table Tennis Association (JTTA) 2023 National Junior and Senior Championship is set to begin today with action at the National Indoor Sports Centre (Independence Park).

Competition is set to commence at 9:00 each morning with the conclusion on Sunday.

The championship is Jamaica’s premier table tennis event of the year, giving players the opportunity to showcase their talent and claim bragging rights.

This season’s edition promises to be exciting and entertaining with in excess of 270 entries across events, and is set to feature several overseas-based Jamaican players whose sole aim is to win the coveted title and be crowned national champion.

YOUNG…the 2022 Women’s Open Champion

The last championship was held in 2022 when Kane Watson won the Men’s Open Champion and Solesha Young claimed the Women’s Open Champion.

There will be an admission fee of $400 per day or $1000 for a season band.

Six male players will be participating in the upcoming Caribbean Region Table Tennis Federation Mini & Pre-cadet Championships in the Santo Domingo, Dominica Republic, next week and this event will be used to fine-tune their preparations.

Some of the tournament sponsors are Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, Independence Park Limited, Lasco Distributors Limited, Optical Solutions International Limited, Tastee Jamaica Limited, Mailpac Group Limited, Western Sports Limited, and Vision Marketing Solutions.
