Dancehall duo RDX recently returned to the island following a performance in the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.

When this column caught up with RDX member Renigade he described the performance as high energy and one that their fans in Guadeloupe will remember for a long time. “We had so much fun because the energy was extremely high. We started off performing Dancers Boom which ignited the crowd immediately. But as the show progressed, the level was raised even higher,” said Renigade.

To further enhance their act, the duo reportedly invited female members of the audience on stage to participate in their routine and to also demonstrate the latest dance moves out of Jamaica.

Roxwayne releases a triple treat

Love Alone, Hungry Days and She Say are the latest singles being promoted by newcomer Roxwayne.

A farmer by profession, the St Ann native who now resides in Clarendon, says his lifelong dream is to become a successful reggae singer. ‘I have been working hard to make this dream of mine a reality, and I know that one day it will happen,’ a confident Roxwayne said recently.

Roxwayne has been working under the guidance of Roymane Alexander of Sajay Productions. He lists Garnet Silk, Bob Marley and Dennis Brown as his musical heroes who have impacted his musical direction.

Shocking Murray tackles crime and violence in new song Johnny

Reggae artiste Shocking Murray tackles the issues of crime and violence in his latest single Johnny. The song is the follow up to his most recent recording Natural Livity, which gave him the exposure he craved.

Johnny is the second single from Murray’s forthcoming set Troddin On.

In a recent interview, Shocking Murray explained that he came up with the idea for the anti-violence song, after listening to a beat he received from Germany-based producer Hopetone Blazze.

“I hope that the message in the song will encourage youths in Jamaica and around the world to stay away from crime and violence,” said Murray.

Dancehall artiste Popcaan is set to shoot the video for his latest single Gangster City Part 2 next week.

Bajan R&B/pop singer Shontelle recently completed a world tour with R&B newcomer Jason DeRulo. Both are set to hit the recording the studio in Miami to commence work on a collaboration. In the meantime, Shontelle is releasing her new single Perfect Nightmare on March 14.

Toots Hibbert is set to join Luciano, Warrior King and Ernie Ranglin on a mini world tour, which kicks off in April. Canadian songbird Bonnie Casey will also appear on the trek.

Lady Gaga’s single Born This Way spends it 6th week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, Britney Spears debuts at number 20 with her latest single Till the World Ends. Still on the Billboard Hot 100, Rihanna moves to number three with S&M, while Jennifer Lopez blasts to number five with On the Floor featuring Hispanic rapper Pit Bull. Kesha’s Blow moves up to number seven, while Down on Me by Jeremih featuring rapper 50 Cent, climbs to number twelve.

Over on the UK album chart, Adele is still the queen of the pack. Her album 21 is the champ for another week, while over on the UK singles chart, her latest hit Someone like You holds at number one for another week.

On the Billboard 200 album chart, Adele’s set 21 sold another 168,000 copies to remain in the number one spot. The story could change next week, as rapper Lupe Fiasco’s album Lasers is projected to move close to 200,000 copies to take over the number one spot.

Media Guide’s Reggae Specialty chart boasts a new number one this week in the form of Wotless by Trinidadian outfit KES the Band.
