Bob Andy resting well at hospital
After collapsing at home last Friday and being rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in St Andrew, rocksteady and Reggae pioneer, Bob Andy is said to be resting well.
The 66-year old artiste, whose real name is Keith Anderson, is reported to have suffered from a bleeding stomach ulcer. According to an associate of the artiste who has visited him everyday since his hospitalisation, Bob Andy is now resting well under the care of his medical team at the UHWI, and is doing much better.
Widely known as a vocalist with hits including I’ve Got to Go Back Home, Fire Burning and Too Experienced, his gifts as a songwriter are equally impressive. Bob Andy has written popular tracks for the likes of reggae frontrunners Ken Boothe and Marcia Griffith including her hits Feel Like Jumping and Truly. In the 1970s, he recorded with Griffiths as Bob and Marcia and scored with a cover of the Nina Simone anthem Young, Gifted and Black.
Bob Andy is currently involved in writing and recording music for Dominican opera singer Marie Claire.
