Alison Hinds to roll it at All-Island Carnival
THE Queen of Soca, Alison Hinds is expected to ignite the stage at the LIME All-Island Carnival when it brings the energy of soca to the second city — Montego Bay tomorrow. This, the sixth leg of the roving soca fete, will be staged at the Vegas Flamingo at the Blue Diamond Plaza in Montego Bay.
Tristar Entertainment, the machinery behind the LIME-sponsored series, is promising persons in and around Montego Bay a real treat. Marvin Lawrence, one of the three directors of Tristar Entertainment, said that his group was in fact partnering with Vegas Flamingo to make the event a reality.
“We are partnering with the Vegas Flamingo team, and one of the most significant things to note is that this event is completely free,” Lawrence remarked.
Lawrence said that the partnership is necessary to ensure that Montegonians and those in attendance from outside the city got a true taste of carnival, which is the main focus of the LIME All Island Carnival. This is a vision shared by theVegas Flamingo lounge.
“Alison Hinds embodies the spirit of carnival so it is only fitting that we would have her perform on the LIME All-Island Carnival stage. And where better to have her, but in the beautiful city of Montego Bay and at the Vegas Flamingo gaming lounge,” he expressed to Splash.
Specifically, patrons will gather on the 40,000 square foot rooftop space of the Vegas Flamingo.
Allison Hinds is the singer of the popular soca anthem Roll It Gyal. She is a mainstay in the world of soca music and will bring her special brand of entertainment to the event aptly dubbed Socamania.
The girl with the bumper, Hinds will share the stage with two other live acts. The legendary soca band, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires and wildly popular Tanto Blacks, a former contestant in the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition.
LIME All-Island Carnival — Montego Bay happens on the heels of the Negril instalment of the event. Held at the Jungle Nightclub, the high-energy soca fete was successful in keeping the patrons on their toes by peppering the soca formula with dancehall hits.
So far, the LIME All-Island Carnival has been held in St Thomas, Portland and St Andrew with Linstead, Ocho Rios, May Pen and St Elizabeth still on the schedule of places to visit.
