TVJ, CNN sign deal

TELEVISION Jamaica (TVJ) on Wednesday signed a partnership with American media house CNN to be its exclusive broadcast partner in Jamaica.

The partnership will give the local station direct access to CNN’s news reports and footage. The signing took place at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

Under the agreement, TVJ and RJR will join CNN for daily news and breaking stories; features programming and investigative reporting.

Representatives from both stations lauded the move.

“Jamaica represents one of the largest, most important markets in the Caribbean and we are delighted,” said Tony Maddox, executive vice-president and managing director of CNN International.

Group Head of News and Sports Milton Walker said the agreement would enhance the product that TVJ had to offer.

“We are delighted with this exciting development; CNN offers credible, wide-ranging and well-timed news reports that truly go beyond borders, thereby enhancing our current news prowess,” Walker said.

“This is continuing in our commitment to bring to Jamaica world-class production,” said Kay Osbourne, general manager of TVJ.
