8 arrested on suspicion of shooting, lottery scam; 3 held during gun find
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Eleven people in St James were yesterday arrested over firearm seizures, shooting and lottery scamming in during joint police/military operations in the Rose Heights area.
Police took three people into custody, including two women in relation to the seizure of a Glock 17 firearm and fourteen rounds of ammunition following the search of a house.Their identities are however being withheld pending further investigations.In another incident, a dwelling was searched and two firearms: a 9 mm Smith and Wesson pistol and one Glock 17 pistol were found. Additionally, forty .45, thirty-five .40, and seventy-four 9 mm rounds were also seized, however no arrest was made.Another eight people were later arrested on George William Gordon Drive after police searched several premises and held them on reasonable suspicion of being involved in shootings with intent and lottery scamming related actives.Their names are being withheld pending further investigations, police said.
