Forever and ever and ever
The newly-weds cut into a traditional Jamaican wedding cake by DreamPuff. (Matthew Khoury)

Forever and ever and ever

Hey Miss Beloved, we are gathered here

To join each other hand and hand

No more playing house, no

‘Cause I want to make it real, do you understand?

To have and to hold (mmm-hmm), until death do us part

No one, no one could ever interrupt the beats of our heart

‘Cause this is gonna last…

As it did in 2022 when Christopher Briscoe proposed to his love Ashalee Madden during her surprise birthday party, words to American singer, songwriter, and record producer R Kelly’s 2003 hit Forever, enveloped the reception space on the lawns of Prospect Estates, Tower Isle as Mr & Mrs Christopher Briscoe took their first dance as husband and wife.

The Jamaican-born, New Yorkers tied the knot on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in front of 290 family and friends. “Chris and I were born in Jamaica and have a strong connection to our country although we live abroad. Not only do we visit multiple times a year to see family and friends, but on our visits back home we love to enjoy everything our island has to offer,” Ashalee tells Tuesday Style Vows (TSV).

“Our reason for choosing the venue was the beauty, multiple views, and capacity to hold our 290 guests. We had our ceremony at the chapel. What drew me to the chapel was the alluring white stones and modern charm,” she shares. The cocktail hour was held in a section of the estate’s lush garden, and the reception took place on the lawns of the Great House.

The destination wedding was curated and executed by Sanya McHugh from Fanciful Decor. “I would love to give a huge shout-out to my wedding planner Sanya McHugh… She was amazing from the start, and went above and beyond in many ways. Being that I live overseas she was extremely helpful with contacting different vendors… Her hard work, creative eye, and leadership made all the things I wanted come together so beautifully,” says Ashalee.

The newly-wed’s honeymoon included a 10-day European getaway to Paris, Puglia, and Santorini.
